In early February we hosted a meeting with alumni of The House DC in efforts to cast vision for our mission in Anacostia, and how we can further leverage our services and support to the community. Our former students, many who are now married or employed, had great ideas as to how we can greater impact the community, such as:
- Partnering with schools in Anacostia and strengthening our relationship with Anacostia High School, so administrative staffcan let students know about The House DC.
- Providing transportation for students who want to come to The House DC but can’t because their commute is dangerous.
- Having counseling services available for students who are dealing with traumatic circumstances.
These are only a few of the many ideas former alumni shared with us as to how we can better serve the youth in Anacostia.
In celebration of our 20th anniversary, we have plans and dreams to further grow our mission and provide services to our youth and families that could powerfully change their lives. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey thus far in sharing the Gospel and transforming hearts.
